Charity organisers of the glamorous Women of Achievement luncheon at the Four Seasons recently got a two-for-one deal when a bizarre mix-up occurred.
Two Valerie Taylors were contacted to be the guest speaker at the event: the woman promoted on publicity material was the Australian shark expert, but an invitation was also accidently sent to a dedicated charity worker in Bangladesh. The annual lunch raises money for Vision Australia, but after the case of mistaken identity, funds were also donated to buy a wheelchair for the latter ladys work at the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed.
The bizarre mix-up resulted in the first Valerie speaking at the glamorous charity luncheon while the second lady opened the proceedings, and despite her long trip and the resulting confusion, that Valerie Taylor good-naturedly said, I could see the funny side.
