Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz’s charity softball match in the Domincan Republic
Sunday, December 31st, 2006 by Hone 1 comments to this post

Here’s David Ortiz at a charity softball game he organized in Santo Domingo for the Robert Reid Cabral Children’s Hospital.
Nearly 1 percent of children born in the Dominican Republic have some sort of birth defect that requires surgery.
Ortiz gave a check for $200,000, enough to start the first pediatric cardiovascular unit in the Dominican Republic.
The Red Sox Foundation matched funds, and fans, corporate sponsors, and players made up the rest.
Here’s Los Angeles Angels Vladimir Guerrero swinging big. Turn’s out he won’t need knee surgery after all.
