Yoko Ono releases ‘Imagine’ to Amnesty International

Yoko Ono has released the rights to her husband’s classic track, ‘Imagine’ to Amnesty International.
Since the famous Beatle, John Lennon, was murdered in 1980, his legacy of music, in particular the world renowned song for peace, ‘Imagine’, has been highly sought after by numerous charities and various campaigns, but Yoko Ono has kept it well guarded, until now.
Reportedly Yoko decided she trusted the intentions of the charity Amnesty International stating,
The Amnesty International people brought this proposal to me and I responded very quickly because I had been doing some projects with them before that, and had a very good feeling about them.
The proceeds from the song’s release are to benefit an Amnesty International project, raising money for a 3 year human rights education campaign and relieving the situation in Sudan.
Yoko Ono released the track, ‘Imagine‘, for the CD, Instant Karma: The Campaign To Save Darfur put out by Amnesty International on June 12. The 2 disc CD has the John Lennon original and is comprised otherwise of John Lennon cover tracks by artists U2, Cristina Aguilera, the Black Eyed Peas, Green Day, R.E.M., Avril Lavigne and more.
