Mamma Mia star Colin Firth and friends from the entertainment industry strongly support the Oxfam GB East Africa Appeal.
As the cost of living increases Africa suffers, and Oxfam is appealing for funds to alleviate emergency situations in Ethiopia, Somalia, Eritrea and northern Kenya.
Colin Firth, John Hannah, Daniela Nardini, Iain Banks and Sandi Thom are all speaking out in favor of the appeal.
‘I travelled out with Oxfam to Ethiopia in 2005 and was inspired by the beauty of the country and its people. It’s devastating to hear that throughout Ethiopia, Somalia and northern Kenya these people are facing another food crisis. A dangerous storm of factors - drought, conflict, grinding poverty and skyrocketing food prices - have stacked on top of each other and are pushing people over the edge,’ Firth had to say about the crisis.
Colin Firth was Oxfam’s European Campaigner of the Year in 2006; donations can be made online to the East Africa Appeal.
