Shakira to Go Global with Charity

Shakira announced plans to expand her children’s charity, the Pies Descalzos (Barefoot) Foundation, around the globe by Christmas.
The Grammy Award winner attended a Columbia University event last week and said, ‘We have a model that works. Under less than $2 a day, we can provide a kid with top quality education and the nutrition that they need to be able to function and be able to learn because a kid with an empty stomach cannot learn. So this model that has been so successful in my country, now I want to bring it to other countries in my small way.’
The presidents of Mexico (pictured), Argentina, Paraguay, El Salvador and Panama were also at the Latin American children’s charity, health and wellbeing event with Shakira.
