2007 Life Ball

Life really is a ball this week, and that's not just a cheesy pun either. It seems to be about the time to get your fancy frocks taken in or out, press the double breast and get on out to the 2007 Life Ball, just one of many this season.

The Life Ball is in it's 15th year and is Europe's largest Charity HIV/AIDS event.

It will take place in Vienna and have an opening ceremony to match that of Olympic proportions. It's so big in fact, that you can only wonder why it hasn't been picked up by some clever little TV executive and televised all over the world.

The pre-ball ceremony will allow for a live crowd of 40 000, free of charge, to view an artistic program in the square fronting the Vienna City Hall. The main attraction - the annual fashion spectacular, this year featuring couture by designers Richie Rich and Traver Rains, aka Heatherette.

For 4 000 lucky little guests, the massive Life Ball pageant, will continue on inside the Vienna City Hall. Once inside they can cosset in, what will be probably close to a Cinderella experience, with ballrooms, live performances and international calibre stars.

The theme of this year's Life Ball is 'Once upon a time', reviving the fairytale experience and promoting happy endings, especially for those the charity ball is held in aid of.

Last years Life Ball raised more than $1 111 000 for HIV/AIDS. The 2007 Life Ball is on May 26.
