Charity encourages walk to clear the Mind
The Mind charity, UK, has come out, as part of Mind Week, encouraging a brisk walk in the park to literally clear the mind.
The results of two new studies commissioned by Mind show that ecotherapy (the relationship between our mental, emotional and spiritual health and the natural world around us) has massive beneficial effects on those who suffer depression.
In the wake of these new studies, Mind are calling for ecotherapy to be approved and recognised as a valid clinical treatment for people who suffer from mental health difficulties.
The news comes as antidepressant prescriptions reach an all-time high, with more than 31 million prescriptions written in 2006. That's an increase of six percent on the number of prescriptions written by GPs in 2005.
Mind is working to assist everyone experiencing mental distress to live a healthier life. Mind Week was recently held in May.
So whether an apple a day keeps the doctor away, you can rest assured that the Mind charity's new studies prove that a walk in the park will certainly encourage a clear head.
But is this really anything we don't know already Some of us are busy-little-bees and some of us house-bound-hounds, but maybe on a lunch break, or for a time out, we could find somewhere to treat ourselves to some natural head space, and thank the Mind Charity for suggesting it.
