OPENING CEREMONIES: On Friday evening June 10, starting at 7:30, a very remarkable event will take place in Lions Stadium on the campus of The College of New Jersey. Summer Games athletes will enter the stadium, accompanied by more than 600 coaches and delegates, as part of an Opening Ceremonies that will begin a weekend of sport and inspiration. The Ceremonies will include the torch being carried into the stadium by the final leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run, the lighting of the cauldron, a concert by the B-Street Band, and fabulous fireworks display.
LAW ENFORCEMENT TORCH RUN: Beginning as early as 4:45 a.m. on the morning of June 10, nearly 3,000 members of Law Enforcement will begin the legendary Torch Run throughout New Jersey. The goal of the Torch Run is to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics New Jersey as the torch makes it way through more than 300 communities throughout the state. Donate to a local officer, find a run near you, or learn more about the Law Enforcement Torch for SONJ.
YOUNG ATHLETE PROGRAM: Young Athlete Program activities will be taking place on Saturday, June 11. The highlight for children and parents alike will be the Future Stars Race as the Young Athletes take to the track at 12:30 p.m. for a 25M race. WELLNESS PARK: Athletes are invited to the Student Center at TCNJ on Saturday and Sunday of Summer Games to take part in the free health screenings and education programs that are part of the Healthy Athletes initiative.
