Inflammatory bowel disease is a term encompassing multiple diseases affecting the digestive tract. These diseases can cause debilitating pain, and they have no known cure; even the exact cause is still unknown. Despite these conditions being common, living with them can be incredibly isolating due to the lack of awareness and understanding. Because so much is still unknown about them, many people suffering from these diseases don’t even know what is causing their symptoms or what they can do to alleviate them. This can lead to people suffering with these conditions being unable to live life to its full extent. With greater awareness and treatment, they could live happier and more fulfilling lives.
The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation is an organization that helps people understand their condition and cope with the symptoms. They are holding the Greater Boston Take Steps Walk to spread awareness and help people with these isolating conditions feel less alone.
