San Filippo Syndrome, also known as Mucopolysaccharidosis Type III (MPS III), is a rare genetic disorder that affects the metabolism of complex sugars called glycosaminoglycans. It is classified as a lysosomal storage disorder, resulting in the accumulation of these sugars within the cells. San Filippo Syndrome is characterized by a progressive deterioration of neurological functions, leading to severe cognitive and physical impairments. Children affected by this syndrome typically experience developmental regression, behavioral problems, and loss of acquired skills. Sadly, there is currently no cure for San Filippo Syndrome, and treatment mainly focuses on managing symptoms and improving the quality of life for affected individuals and their families.
In the realm of medical challenges, where time is of the essence, a fierce battle wages against Sanfilippo Syndrome—a rare and devastating disease that affects young lives. Within this struggle, the Cure Sanfilippo Foundation emerges as a beacon of hope, tirelessly working to fund crucial research and provide support to families affected by the syndrome. With unwavering determination, they strive to unlock the keys to a brighter future, where innovative breakthroughs offer the promise of effective treatments and, ultimately, a cure for Sanfilippo Syndrome.
Amidst their ongoing efforts to combat Sanfilippo Syndrome, the Cure Sanfilippo Foundation invites you to tee off for a day of golf and philanthropy at the upcoming 2023 Porcaro Family Charities Golf Outing. Join fellow supporters and golf enthusiasts in this prestigious event, as you swing into action and contribute towards funding critical research and support programs for families affected by the syndrome. Your participation in this remarkable event will help pave the way towards a future where a cure for Sanfilippo Syndrome becomes a reality.
