Mark your calendar for Friday, September 19, 2025, at The Loading Dock on Beryl Road in Raleigh, where romance and fantasy will come together for an unforgettable evening. Inspired by the beloved “romantasy” genre, this year’s theme promises an enchanting blend of elegance, whimsy, and heartfelt purpose.
Guests will be treated to captivating readings by Redbud students featuring fantasy and romance-infused works, along with playful touches like fairy hair, tiaras, a dramatic ballroom soundtrack, and a regal throne for perfect photo ops. The night will also feature an exciting auction filled with incredible prizes, delicious catering from Spread NC, and plenty of magical surprises. Costumes aren’t required—but if you want to get into the spirit, inspiration is just a click away.
More than just a themed celebration, this gala serves as Redbud’s primary fundraiser for the year. Proceeds from ticket sales and the auction will sustain our programs through the end of 2025 and into 2026, including our free courses for marginalized and under-represented communities. Your support will help us continue offering life-changing educational opportunities and building strong partnerships with nonprofits across the Triangle—ensuring that we reach more voices and stories than ever before.

We are so thrilled to announce that we’re going to be holding our second-ever fundraising gala on Friday, Sept. 19 at The Loading Dock on Beryl Road in Raleigh. This fabulous event will be romantasy-themed!
Romantasy, for the uninitiated, is a very popular genre these days that blends romance and fantasy (examples include Fourth Wing and A Court of Thrones and Roses). The theme means we’re going to have Redbud students reading fantasy and/or romance-inflected works; fun accessories like fairy hair and tiaras; music befitting a dramatic ballroom; a throne for photo ops; an auction with amazing prizes; catering from Spread NC AND MORE! Costumes are not required, but you can find some inspiration for your outfit here.
Most importantly, this gala will be Redbud’s main fundraiser this year. It will support all our operations for the end of 2025 and 2026, including our free courses for marginalized and under-represented populations. All proceeds from our ticket sales and from the auction will help Redbud continue to offer these high-quality, life-changing courses and continue to forge partnerships with nonprofits across the Triangle so that we can reach new populations.
