The Lung Foundation Australia is the organization behind the Shine a Light on Lung Cancer campaign, working to improve the lives of Australians affected by lung disease and lung cancer through advocacy, support, education, awareness, and research.

Shine a Light on Lung Cancer: Melbourne will take place on Sunday, 15 November 2026, bringing the Melbourne community together to support Australians affected by lung cancer.

The community-led walk will take place at Pillars of Wisdom on the Tan Track, Alexandra Avenue, Melbourne VIC 3004. Participants will come together to raise awareness, challenge the stigma surrounding lung cancer, and show their support for the people and families affected by the disease. The event also provides a meaningful opportunity to remember and honour loved ones impacted by lung cancer. A special lantern ceremony will be held during the event, giving members of the lung cancer community a chance to share their experiences, listen to others, and take a moment to reflect.

Participants can show their support through one of three lantern options, creating a visible symbol of hope and solidarity throughout the community walk. With 15,122 Australians diagnosed with lung cancer every year, events such as Shine a Light help highlight the importance of continued research, awareness, and support. Funds raised through the event contribute to efforts aimed at advancing life-changing lung cancer research. Whether walking in Melbourne, donating, or helping spread awareness, participants can play a part in supporting Australians affected by lung cancer and helping bring the community closer to a brighter future.
