A hundred professionals across a range of industries gathered over the weekend to create a new business at the annual InOneWeekend retreat.
The result of their efforts spawned a company called Dipidee, a Web site that provides opportunities for consumers to connect with local arts and sporting events. They spent a combined 3,500 hours on the project. “Hundreds of business ideas were created, analyzed and discussed among the 100 participants,” said Elizabeth Edwards, organizer of the event. “The group chose the concept Dipidee, a new Web site to provide an online marketing service for arts and sporting events to reach consumers with a creative and spontaneous flair.” With a planned launch in October, Dipidee will look to partner with local art organizations, sporting events and charity events to advertise their tickets in a timely manner and give consumers the chance buy tickets on a random basis each day at www.dipidee.com. Numerous deals will be promoted each day and consumers can purchase them via the Web site. Participants voted for volunteer leadership of the new venture, which will be led by Brian LeCount, president of R.O.Why! Marketing. Other officers include: Andy Park, chief operating officer of Dipidee, and a managing partner with Centric Consulting and Lisa Boh, chief marketing officer, a strategy and creative director at Blue Whitespace and creative director for PEP. The second annual In One Weekend took place from Aug. 28-30 at the University of Cincinnati’s Tangeman University Center, with Ali Rowghani, chief financial officer for Pixar Animation Studios, keynoting the entrepreneurial event. The 100 participants, chosen in advance, spent the weekend brainstorming the new Web startup.
