Get involved DIEHARD Terfel fans celebrated their own Brynfest on Saturday after the Faenol Festival was cancelled.
The 10th festival would have been held on this Bank Holiday weekend but it was put on ice after organisers ran out of time, leaving Bryn fans pining for more. It also left a gap in the cultural calendar and a hole in the pockets of hoteliers, B&Bs, guesthouses and restaurants, who missed out on bookings. A five-year deal to secure its long-term future means it will return next year, with organisers promising it will be bigger and better than ever. But on Saturday, up to 60 followers of the North Wales bass baritone held their own celebrations, travelling from Britain, America and Norway to Caernarfon Golf Club. There they made up for some of their disappointment by holding their own Faenol-inspired celebration.
They watched a DVD of highlights from the previous nine Faenol Festivals and shared memories of happy hours sitting, enthralled, in a packed field at the festival’s nearby venue, Faenol Estate.
