Runners and walkers alike came together this morning to benefit Catholic charities in the area.
The third annual Charity Challenge 5K Run kicked off outside the St. Francis Xavier Cathedral at 9 o’clock this morning. All the proceeds raised helped Catholic charities of the Diocese of Green Bay, which serves 40,000 clients in northeast Wisconsin. The event drew about 200 run-ready folks. All participants battled the crisp morning air knowing their efforts would go to noble causes. Jim Hein, a runner from Green Bay, said “it’s for a good cause, and it’s a good run. It’s 5k, and it’s three miles…it’ll be perfect for me.” Organizers provided the participants with a pancake breakfast following the event.
