Get involved A BEVVY of beauties ‘basqued’ in the Sunday sunshine as they held a charity catwalk at Coventry’s canal basin.
More than 50 people turned out to support the fashion show. And a scooter club on their way to see the Canal Basin’s popular 2-tone Trail plaque were so impressed by the event that they all chipped in. All but two of the models have beaten breast cancer. Beth Appleby donned a corset on behalf of a friend who is due to start cancer therapy soon and Bret Newton, from hairdressers Ruby Tuesdays joined in to represent all the men who have suffered from breast cancer. Organiser Emma O’Brien said: “All of our models who have recovered from breast cancer share a new, positive outlook on life.” “I wanted to get across the point that these women, no matter what shape or size, can lose a breast and can still look incredibly beautiful. More importantly they can also feel good about themselves.” As well as the catwalk show there was also a wedding showcase courtesy of Bridal Inspirations, tattoos were available at Incubus (who donated 25 per cent of their profits on the day to charity) and there was music by Kristy Gallagher.
The event raised £300 on the day, with more to come from a raffle and charity auction which will be held at the Herbert Art Gallery on September 2 at 6.30pm.
