GENEROUS Grimsby-area folk helped beat a charity’s fight against the recession.
Thousands of supporters dug deep in aid of the Grimsby and District Healthcare Charity’s hospital carnival fun day at the Stamford Club. Organisers estimated 6,000 people attended to boost the appeal to buy life-saving cardiac equipment for Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital patients. Chairman of the trustees of the Grimsby and District Health Care Charity, Ron Kitching said: “All the money will be going to buy the equipment. We raised £6,000 last year and hope to make £12,000 this year.” For more on how the day went – and pictures from the event – see today’s Grimsby Telegraph.
