A little budget problem won’t keep dogs out of the water. Greene County didn’t open its pools this summer, but it won’t stop the Doggie Dash ’N Splash, the popular summer event that allows dogs to enjoy some liquid fun. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at the Fairgrounds Recreation Center in Xenia, the event offers water features for the dogs to play in &mdash including a new Canine Sprayground this year &mdash and lots of activities like a doggie talent contest, canine swimsuit competition, canine costume contest, dog and owner look alike contest, best kisser and others. There also will be a competition for king and queen. Visit www.dashsplash.com to download entry and voting forms. Also on hand will be the Southern Ohio Flying K9s, herding demonstrations, working dog, Rex, with his handler Sheriff Deputy Nipper. Doggie Dash ’N Splash Fest is free with a $5 parking donation. Proceeds from the event benefit the Scout Burnell-Garbrecht Dog Park.
For additional information on Doggie Dash ’N Splash Fest, call Greene County Parks at (937) 562-7440 or visit www.dashsplash.com.
