A TEAM of mountain-mad computer buffs have smashed a charity hiking target by &pound30,000.
The 17 United Utilities colleagues, including Paul Smith from Widnes, are expected to double their original target by netting &pound60,000 for Water Aid and mountain rescue charities. The cash was raised during a gruelling bid to scale 38 Lake District peaks in just four days in June. The marathon effort took in 60 miles of hill-walking and 20,000 feet of ascent along the way. Paul said: “This was a great event and while physically demanding was great fun to do. “This is a great result and makes all the hard work very worthwhile.” We want your local stories, videos & pics.
