Savior Lutheran Church and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will host a fundraiser to help the Taylor Grantz family with medical expenses from 4:30 to
8:30 p.m. May 30 at Antioch VFW, 75 W. North Ave. Featured are sandwiches, a bake sale, silent auction, raffles, and live music from two bands, Prospecting South and the VooDoo Cadillacs. Taylor Grantz is a 17-year-old Grayslake High School student coping with several brain cysts. This rare disease has caused Taylor and her family to travel to doctors all over the US with the hope of finding relief for her severe headaches and other symptoms. In addition, the youth group of Beautiful Savior will offer a free car wash, but will accept donations for the Taylor benefit, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church, 1501 Deep Lake Road, Antioch. Illinois Ave., Lake Forest, presents the internationally acclaimed band, The English Beat, in a local concert 8 p.m. on May 29 in the Baggett Auditorium, Lake Forest. Tickets for this charity event are $100 per person. Proceeds benefit the Gorton Community Center, one of the only privately-funded community centers in the United States. The Joe Lessman Division of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society offers an ice cream social at 7 p.m. on June 6 at Oakton Community Center, first floor, 4701 Oakton, Skokie. Special guest vocal historian Jack Diamond will present a program highlighting a well-known celebrity.
