A blog post on the Austin American-Statesman’s Web site this past week indicated that the Michigan State men’s basketball game at Texas will take
place on Tuesday, Dec. 22, at the Erwin Center on the Longhorns’ campus in Austin. MSU is 2-0 in the current four-game series with Texas. The Spartans beat the Longhorns at the Palace on Dec. 4, 2007, 78-72, and defeated them in Houston on Dec. 20, 2008, 67-63. The final game of the series will be in the 2010-11 season in East Lansing. The Spartans beat Texas on Nov. 16, 2006, 63-61, in the Coaches vs. Classic semifinals at Madison Square Garden. The dinner is June 7 at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham, and the golf event is the next day at Oakland Hills Country Club. MSU representatives are expected to participate in the event. HAYNIE HURT: Former MSU guard Kristin Haynie, now with the Detroit Shock, missed the Shock’s exhibition game on Friday night against the Chicago Sky because of injury. Haynie, in her first season with the Shock, strained her quadriceps in practice last week. Another former MSU player, Kristen Rasmussen, started and scored six points. JULIAN H.
