Party Planner Adds Charitable Twist To Her Events 2009: Miami Beach

Party planner adds charitable twist to her events

Miami Beach party planner adds charitable twist to events When she first decided to launch an event planning company, Alexandra Pena decided she would
like to do something that would make a difference in her community. Her company, Cappuccino Chix, plans parties with a twist: a portion of the event’s proceeds are donated to a charity. ”It’s my way of giving back and doing something positive,” Pena said. Pena, 27, co-owns the company with her mother Evelyn Pena, aunt Marie Rousseau and best friend Cheryl Adams. The company plans birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, spa parties and corporate events. An added bonus: They bring along their own staff, which includes bartenders, cocktail servers, shot girls, food servers and licensed hair and make-up artists. Although Pena is the brains behind the business, her family and friends help.
”My mom is good at the organizational side, my aunt does the decor and my best friend is great at getting the crowds amped up,” she said.
