May 22, 2009 – Wednesday nights at The Edison on McGregor Boulevard, Fort Myers -go, Dan, go.
Live music, complimentary appetizers, and free vodka for the ladies during happy hour all make for an incredibly festive and flirty atmosphere. – Art Walk happens the first Friday of each month in downtown Fort Myers where you’ll find wine and cheese openings at most all the art galleries. I also notice lots of attractive women milling about in packs. Dan, get thee to an Art Walk and strike up a conversation over a sculpture or a bacon-wrapped shrimp. – Blu Sushi has always been popular, but the one in Gulf Coast Town Center in San Carlos Park has become the talk of the town (center)! According to their Web site, blusushi.com, they boast not one, but THREE ladies’ nights in a row (Monday through Wednesday from 7 until 9). – Finally, Dan, whenever I go to major charity events and galas, I’m always struck by how many lovely lady volunteers there are. You may want to consider either lending a hand or attending – and inviting the cute girl selling raffle tickets out for a cocktail at the end of the night. I had a fine time last Thursday at the opening of Latin Art Show at the Sidney and Berne Davis Art Center in downtown Fort Myers. Lovers of culture and talent came out to see a variety of exciting works featuring artists from Cuba, Costa Rica, Colombia, and more. A portion of proceeds from the event benefitted Voices for Kids, so it was nice running into several people involved with the cause including Kimberly Becker, JoAnne Holt, and Shara Weaver. I also enjoyed seeing Dr. Omar Rieche, Janice Kemp, Cesar Alvarez, Luzi Caballero, and Luis Castillo. The exhibit runs until May 29 and is free to the public.
The sixth annual Pete Renner Poker Run and Block Party happened last Sunday at Sun Sports Cycle on Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers – and despite some soggy weather lots of supporters came out to raise funds for Hannah Grant, a little girl who was severely injured in a car accident in 2007.
