521 That Thursday Thing Finale In Glendale 2009: City Glendale

521 That Thursday Thing finale in Glendale

The city of Glendale is putting its That Thursday Thing event to bed for the year with a “Girl’s Night Out Pajama and Tiara
Party.” It’s the final installment of the monthly event for 2009. Visitors are invited to dress in their favorite pajamas and royal headwear to go explore shops and restaurants in downtown Glendale, which will be open late offering discounts and giveaways. “We’ve heard people say that they are choosing their favorite pajamas and their most comfy slippers and adding the tiaras component this year should be a lot of fun,” said Glendale tourism manager Lorraine Pino. “And we tell the guys that want to come that they can wear a crown,” she said, laughing. That Thursday Thing is an annual series of free events held to promote the downtown Glendale area and give residents and visitors a reason to come together. The first event this year was held in February and each month downtown was decked out in a different theme. “We’ve been extremely happy with the turnout at all of these events,” said Pino. “We’re finding that with this season promotions, 40 percent of attendees were first-time visitors to downtown Glendale and that people are coming in from all around the Valley to explore our downtown.” For the final event, guests can start their night at the Visitors Center, where they can spin a prize wheel for giveaways and receive coupons and free samples from local shops.
Retro-rock band Come Back Buddy will play all night and the streets will be full of horse-drawn carriage rides, henna art booths and caricature artists. Ollie the Trolley will offer free rides through Old Towne and Catlin Court, with stops at the Cerreta Candy Company.
