A GLENLUCE granny who has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for charity is looking for daredevils to join her on her next challenge.
At the end of August, 70-year-old Mavis Paterson, also known as Granny Mave, will abseil down the lighthouse at the Mull of Galloway. Another 100 brave volunteers will join her on her mission, including television presenters Dougie Vipond and Stephen Jardine. Her sister, who lived in Australia, died of breast and bone cancer and was looked after by the equivalent of our MacMillan Nurses. The abseil will be televised, and Granny Mave has also appeared on Scottish Television’s 5.30 Show to talk about the event. She told the Standard: “I’m always looking for my next challenge. “I’ve cycled 5,500 miles across Canada to mark my 70th birthday, cycled across America, Uganda, Britain and Australia, as well as competing in countless marathons, walking across the Alps and climbing Kilimanjaro.
“I won’t stop until my legs fall off.”
