AN East Kilbride mum-of-one is all set to run the Edinburgh marathon to raise funds for a cause close to her heart.
Sharon Gregg, 40, from Westwood is to run the 26.2 miles to raise as much cash as possible for the Meningitis Trust. When Sharon’s son John was just three-months-old he was diagnosed with the potentially fatal disease and was fortunate to survive. Sharon, who works for Estee Lauder within Debenhams in the town, told the News that her son has made tremendous progress and now she feels it is time to help support the Trust. She added: “John is eight -years-old now and you would never know he nearly died when he was just a baby. “It is such a hard thing to go through at the time and the charity is one that means a lot to me so that’s why I chose them to raise money for. “I’ve never taken part in a marathon before but one of my goals in life was to finish one and after turning 40 recently I decided it was time to go for it.”
Sharon only took up running a short time ago as a hobby and enjoys it so much it has become part of her life.
