First Minister’s promise at Humanitarian Awards EVERY child in Scotland will be heading to Alloway’s Burns Museum – according to Scotland’s First Minister.
The Ayr Advertiser Series can exclusively reveal that Alex Salmond intends to arrange for every schoolchild to pay a visit to the museum which is expected to open in 2010. The discovery came as we spoke to Scotland’s First Minister at the 8th annual Burns Humanitarian Awards in Ayr on Saturday night. Mr Salmond said: “All the indications are that Homecoming 2009 will be a massive success. I was in Alloway for the opening but everything that has happened so far has exceeded expectations. “Ayrshire is the epicentre of the whole event and I have been here four times already – and I will certainly be back for the golf Open Championship later in the summer. “I am going to make sure that every school child in Scotland will pay at least one visit to the new Burns Museum in Alloway at some point
“It is highly appropriate that the Burns Humanitarian Award should be such a big part of Homecoming as it represents a wonderful accolade for those that devote their lives to helping other people.
