Brady RTE legend Marian Finucane has opened up about the loss of her friend Nuala O’Faolain, who died a year ago this week. The broadcaster revealed how much she still thinks about the acclaimed writer, who passed away from metastatic cancer last May. “I miss her dreadfully,” she told the Herald. And she added she went out to dinner with some of Nuala’s immediate family on Monday night “for a bite to eat” in the run-up to her poignant one-year anniversary. Marian said it was “a pleasure” to launch Nuala’s posthumous novel Best Love, Rosie in the Mansion House, saying her memory will always live on in the power of her writing. “The first thing I want to do is give you the good news — the book has gone straight into the best sellers list, the reviews she got were really superb,” Marian told guests at the bash. Marian said: “It’s a very peculiar thing, reading a book written by a friend after they have passed on. I know Nuala said she didn’t believe in the afterlife but, in theory, scientists will tell you matter is indestructible. If you are a writer, your emotional matter is indestructible.”
She said: “It was for me, a wonderful and difficult thing to go through this and it was as if she were still alive.
