15yearold Sets Course Record At Walnut Cove 2009: Anyone Played

15yearold sets course record at Walnut Cove

For anyone who has played The Cliffs at Walnut Cove, you are probably in agreement that this is a record that may stand for
a long time. On one of the most challenging golf courses I’ve ever encountered, 15-year old Shun Yat Hak posted a course record 7-under par 64 Sunday at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove to win an American Junior Golf Association Tournament. The young man from Lake Mary, Fla., was playing from the tips, just over 7,000 yards. He shot 5-over 76 on Saturday but rallied from 10 shots back. He had five birdies on the front and four on the back to offset bogeys at Nos. 13 and 18. He finished at 2-under 140 to win by a shot. Stephanie Meadow of Northern Ireland (70-67-137) won the girls division by six shots. West Henderson high sophomore Kayla Sciupider, the only local player in the field tied for 12th (75-79-154). The old course record was 65, shot by Bryce Molder in a Nationwide Tour event in the BMW Charity Pro-Am.
