April 24, 2009 The SPCA of Tompkins County is holding a series of events this spring.
Remaining events are as follows: Adoption event: From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, April 25, at the Northshore Animal League “Tour for Life,” Petco, Northern Lights Plaza, Mattydale. Cats will be available for adoption. Adoption event: From noon to 3 p.m. Friday, May 1 through Sunday, May 3 at the PetSmart Adopt-a-thon Weekend at PetSmart, S. Meadow Street. Dots and cats will be available for adoption. Adoption and community outreach event: From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, May 8 at Hot Dog Day with Lou the “Hot Dog Guy,” Bank Alley, The Commons. Dogs and cats will be available for adoption. The events include: “A Drop of Life” from 7-11 p.m. today, in Textor 101. A film on the intersecting lives of a rural Indian village teacher and an African American corporate executive after both are confronted with lack of access to clean drinking water.
The American Red Cross NY Penn Blood Services is urging eligible blood donors to give the gift of life this week. Area blood donors are needed to help stimulate the local blood supply. O negative blood inventories are low. Double Red Cell donors are needed and are strongly urged to make an appointment this week.
