Everyones Invited To Vagabonds Dance Party 2009: Not Counting

Everyones invited to Vagabonds dance party

Not counting the Pavlovian jumping up and down at Ultra during WMC or in your living room during Dancing with the Stars the other
night, when was the last time you danced As much as we can’t stand pop sensation Lady GaGa, she has a point when she wails ”just dance.” Not many people dance in this VIP culture of ours, but you may feel like moving at The Vagabond, 30 NE 14th St., Miami, on Saturday night when Godfather of House Frankie Knuckles takes to the turntables. And if you don’t believe us, just ask Hercules and Love Affair, for whom he has remixed Blind, and Depeche Mode, whose hit Wrong has re-energized a legion of dance floor devotees, many of whom retired their Capezios when music started getting stale, repetitive and, well, depressing. Spinning starts at 10 p.m. free Belvedere cocktails from 10-11 p.m. This night is a Back Door Bamby production and everyone’s invited. E-mail . For those who prefer to lounge poolside, Sole on the Ocean, a condo-hotel at 17315 Collins Ave. in Sunny Isles Beach, has launched a pool party from noon to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays featuring DJ Baby Dre, a lunch box menu of sandwiches, veggie and fruit platters and other dainty nibbles from the Epicure Market and, of course, summery-sweet cocktails with saccharine-sounding names like Lifesaver, Watermelon Quencher and South Beach Lemonade. For those who like to get the party started on Fridays, Sole on the Ocean also has Alba, a weekly sunset happy hour where two-for-one cocktails are offered from 4-7 p.m. Good news for Sunny Isles and Aventura residents and for South Beachers looking for a change of scenery. For those who love to take their dogs everywhere, try the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino’s Gryphon Lounge on Friday for Hot Dogs Rock the Red Carpet, a charity event benefiting Paws 4 You Rescue, an organization not nearly as guerrilla as PETA, whose latest absurd request was that the Pet Shop Boys change their name to Rescue Shelter Boys. Anyway, the yappy happy hour and doggie fashion show takes place from 7-10 p.m. and is hosted by actor Dennis DiAngelo (Ocean’s Twelve, Alias, The X-Files). Dogs up to 25 pounds are invited. Luckily, for owners there is no weight limit. $20 per person. Over at The Standard at 8 p.m. Monday is the Arthouse Film Series, featuring screenings of compelling and critically acclaimed documentaries starting with The Universe of Keith Haring, an intimate portrait of the late pop artist by director Christina Clausen. Screening is free, as is the popcorn, and a new film runs in the Lido Lounge on the last Monday of every month. And finally, for those who think a bloody mary qualifies as breakfast, consider 8 Oz Burger Bar’s new Sunday Bloody Sundays. From 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., you can make your own fabulous vegetable vodka concoction with a well stocked selection of accouterments including oysters, shrimp, eggs, salami and all sorts of hot sauces for just $20. No dancing around this subject — we are so there.
