Bowyer Takes In Valley Gokart Track 2009: Clint Bowyer

Bowyer takes in Valley gokart track

Clint Bowyer spent Thursday afternoon whipping his racecar around a Phoenix track.
As he maneuvered his way to the front of the pack, it became obvious Bowyer was the best driver out there. His car seemed to glide through the track while his opponents kept running into the walls and each other. He took the lead during Lap 5 and cruised to an easy victory. Bowyer wasn’t racing against his usual NASCAR opponents Thursday. The 29-year-old reigning Nationwide Series champion and Sprint Cup driver was taking on amateur challengers in go-karts at the F1 Race Factory while stopping in the Valley on a promotional visit for the Subway Fresh Fit 500, which will be held at Phoenix International Raceway in April. “You give a racer a go-kart track and we usually race harder here, believe it or not, than we do on a race track,” Bowyer said. “I’ve always loved these indoor go-kart tracks.”
Bowyer was in Phoenix for only a few hours Thursday while on his way to Fontana, Calif., for this week’s Nationwide and Sprint Cup series races, but he always enjoys his time in the Valley.
