Canton High Hosts Fashion Show Fundraiser 2009: Gowns Glitzy

Canton High hosts fashion show fundraiser

The gowns were glitzy, the tuxes were ritzy, and everyone&mdashincluding the models and the audience&mdashhad a great time.
It was all part of the third annual prom fashion show that took place last Thursday at Canton High School. The show was a joint fundraiser for the town’s National Charity League chapter and the Senior Week/All Night Graduation Party committee, and it involved students from Canton public schools as well as Thayer Academy. “I think all the models were wonderful,” said Mary Jo Hannigan, who chaired the event. Mothers and daughters who belonged to the charity league worked hard to organize and run the event. The younger students made posters, helped with refreshments and tickets and acted as announcers. Juniors and seniors got to model the fashions that were from Dream Prom and Social Occasions, in Easton, and Richard Lewis, in Canton. Junior Gina Dicenzo said the girls went to Dream Prom to try on a variety of dresses, and she fell in love with a hot pink dress. She was told she could model it if it didn’t sell, and she was thrilled when she it was still available. She modeled it with three-inch heels.
Her friend, Nicole Marcone, wore a blue “Cinderella” dress. She said it wasn’t something she would normally choose, but she loved its storybook quality.
