IF you want to take on one of the world’s greatest sporting challenges this year, the local Marie Curie Cancer Care team has the
event. The charity has got their hands on some guaranteed places for the ING New York Marathon in November 2009, but the race is on to snap up a space before they go. Places are like gold dust for the 26.2 mile Big Apple experience, which takes runners through all five of New York’s boroughs. Everything from flights and four star accommodation, to fundraising support and training tips is organised by the charity. Joyce Stephenson, Marie Curie Cancer Care fundraiser, said: “All money raised will allow more Marie Curie Nurses to provide free care in the region for terminally ill people.” RESIDENTS in a block of Coatbridge flats who have lived for decades with water pouring down their walls are demanding that North Lanarkshire Council finally take action. A DRUG-ADDICT mum tried to smuggle heroin into prison when visiting her junkie partner – and ended up behind bars herself.
