EAST DUNDEE — Cindy Geye and her daughter, Julie, are walking 60 miles over three days to raise awareness — and funds — to
fight breast cancer. Cindy, of Elgin, who has been diagnosed with breast cancer three times within the last 10 years, and her daughter, of Carpentersville, will participate in two walks benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure this year — the first in Denver in August and the second in Dallas in November. The two have raised almost $1,000 so far toward the $6,900 needed for their participation. Main St., East Dundee Cost: Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children “I am a three-time survivor,” Cindy said. “I don’t want to see other women have to go through this. ”
Immanuel Lutheran Church will host an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner Saturday to raise money for the mother-daughter team. The event is in its fourth year and usually draws a crowd of about 200.
