Jimmy King refers to his former University of Michigan Fab Five teammates as brothers.
And like any other family reunion, King looks forward to reminiscing with Chris Webber, Jalen Rose, Juwan Howard and Ray Jackson when the five former Michigan players will appear at a charity event on April 4 at the Motor City Casino in Detroit as part of the city’s Final Four festivities. King spoke with the News on Wednesday regarding the event he is helping put together and that will benefit the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History. Q: After all these years, why is the timing right for a reunion A: This has been way overdue to have a reunion and celebrate what we brought to the game of basketball. With it being the Final Four and with it being in Detroit, it’s kind of symbolic that we have it right in the backyard of where we made our mark.
Q: How many times have you gotten together over the years A: I think this will only be the second time we’ve gotten together publicly. We were all together in Chicago for the Jalen Rose Charity game when he was playing for the Bulls. But it’s been a while.
