Friday, 13 February 2009 CORBRIDGE’S Holly Brown has come under the wing of the country’s top race horse trainers as she bids to race
in front of the Grand National crowds at Aintree, Howard Johnson’s White Lea Farm at Crook in County Durham will be groom Holly’s base as she prepares for the John Smith’s People’s Race an event that will give ten riders the chance to ride in a charity flat race at Aintree. As well as being part of the world’s most prestigious horse-racing event, Holly’s chosen charity, Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Centre (TRC) could also benefit as each of the ten riders will earn £5,000 for their causes, with the winner raising a total of £50,000 for charity. Howard Johnson has enjoyed fabulous success in recent years with horses of the quality of Direct Route, Grey Abbey and No Refuge. He said: “We are pleased to assist Holly for the challenges that lie ahead. “Unfortunately the adverse weather conditions have curtailed any training at the moment, but I’m sure she’ll give it everything to make the most of this opportunity”.
