Wilmington Twestival to raise money for charity

Chances are the word “Twestival” is a new one for you.
Think: Twitter + festival and you have yourself people who regularly connect on the Internet meeting in person for a good cause. Locals who use the social networking site Twitter will join others across the world in holding a local “Twestival” to raise money for a charity called “charity:water.” The concept of a twestival started last year in the United Kingdom, and this year has spread to almost 200 cities across the world. Wilmington is one of four cities in the state holding such an event Thursday, and 100 percent of proceeds will go to charity:water, which brings clean, safe drinking water to developing countries. When: 6 to 10 p.m., Thursday Where: Port City Pub, 121 Grace St. Tickets: $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Ticket price includes beer, food, nonalcoholic beverages, door prizes and entertainment.
