Runners Drivers Need To Share The Road 2009: Runners Drivers

Runners drivers need to share the road

Runners, drivers need to share the road On The Run Jay Kumar It has been a tough winter for runners.
An overabundance of snow combined with chilly temperatures has left us with less room on the road than usual. Although we’re in the midst of a warm spell, the constant battle of wills between runners and drivers wages on. But as with any conflict, there are points of contention on either side. This week, I’m going to address some of those points and counterpoints. Runners say: Drivers need to pay more attention to runners, cyclists and other pedestrians, especially during the evening hours. Drivers say: Runners who run at night should wear reflective clothing. Wearing all black when it’s dark out is not a good long-term strategy.
Runners: Drivers need to slow down, especially on side streets and while going around blind corners. There are way too many close calls on the roads.
