There was elation in Auckland on Friday as missing charity rowing team Tom Wigram, Peter Staples, Billy Gammon and Matt Hampel were finally located safe and sound.
The four amateur rowers were raising money for the CancerSociety of New Zealand and the Prostate Cancer Charity by taking part in the inaugural Indian Ocean Rowing Race. When their Auckland support group lost contact with them on June 26, there was an anxious week of worry and waiting for family and friends.
However the Rowing For Prostate team have been found safe, and despite their ordeal, they are still on their way to the finish line, determined to complete the race and raise funds and awareness for their favourite charity.
