Education is the main concern for Samantha Powell, the newly crowned Miss Universe New Zealand.
The 20-year-old Paraparaumu banker said she wanted to visit schools in Cambodia and Vietnam promoting the importance of education, before winning the prestigious Donald Trump title at a ceremony at near Auckland.
The pageant crowning event itself raised $3000 for Look Good Feel Better, a charity helping women with cancer.
The new Miss Universe New Zealand, Samantha Powell’s next stop will be the Miss Universe 2008 pageant in Vietnam in June.
