Australians in Film LA and a group of friends and actors have joined forces to create the Heath Ledger Scholarship.
A panel of the late great actor’s close friends and peers, including actress Rachel Griffiths and director Gregor Jordan, will judge the winner of a $10 000 scholarship (including round trip airfare) for an emerging Australian actor.
Australians Hugh Jackman, Deborra Lee Furness, Nicole Kidman and Naomi Watts, as well as Michelle Williams contributed to the 2009 scholarship.
Susie Dobson, the president of Australians in Film said, ‘We are fortunate to have a judging panel and benefactors comprised of such leaders in the entertainment community who add immeasurably to the integrity and prestige of the scholarship.
Australians in Film received ‘a staggering number’ of applications for the 2009 Heath Ledger Scholarship the winner will be announced next month.
