The latest edition in the Harry Potter films, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, premiered simultaneously all over the world, but a special preview was held the night before at the fifth Wizard’s Ball, a fundraiser for Make-A-Wish and the Pediatric Oncology Resource Team.
About 600 privileged fans took part in the fundraiser, featuring a live owl, a real magician, fire eaters, moving ghosts in picture frames and costumed characters. The charity film screening event reportedly raised about $140 000, which is not a very big surprise considering Harry’s popularity.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix broke box office records earlier this week when it pulled in $45 million on its opening day, including the record $12 million made on the Tuesday midnight previews as well as the Make-A-Wish Foundation screening.
