Colorectal cancer, a widespread malignancy, affects the colon or rectum and ranks among the leading causes of cancer-related deaths globally. It usually begins as small growths, or polyps, on the colon’s inner lining, which can turn cancerous over time. While its exact cause is complex, factors like age, family history, and lifestyle play roles. Early detection through screenings is vital as symptoms often appear at advanced stages. Treatment options encompass surgery, chemotherapy, and targeted therapies. Raising awareness about risk factors, adopting a healthy lifestyle, and undergoing recommended screenings are pivotal in curbing the impact of colorectal cancer.
In the face of colorectal cancer’s challenges, organizations like the Colorectal Cancer Alliance stand as strong allies. Their dedicated efforts to raise awareness, provide support, and advance research are pivotal in reducing the impact of this disease.
