Live performances bring people together. Music, theater, and dance help communities connect and experience something meaningful together.
Portland Ovations works to make live performance part of everyday life in Southern Maine. As a nonprofit cultural organization, they present a wide range of concerts and performances throughout the year, giving audiences many chances to experience world-class artists right in their community.
One of the upcoming performances features the Academy of St Martin in the Fields Wind Ensemble. This acclaimed group of musicians will perform on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at 7 PM at Merrill Auditorium in Portland. Known for their outstanding musicianship, the ensemble brings together top performers on clarinet, oboe, bassoon, horn, and flute for a program that celebrates the beauty and energy of chamber music.
The concert will run about two hours with an intermission, giving audiences time to fully enjoy the performance and the atmosphere of live music.
If you enjoy live arts events, this is just one of many performances Portland Ovations has planned for the coming months.

Featuring principals Fiona Cross on clarinet, John Roberts on oboe, Julie Price on bassoon, Stephen Stirling on horn, and Harry Winstanley on flute, the wind ensemble of the acclaimed Academy of St Martin in the Fields is recognized as “an ensemble of first-rate musicians, technically superb, generously expressive, and obviously enjoying themselves.” (Dallas Morning News). Rooted in unsurpassed musicianship and a commitment to maintaining a large-scale chamber ensemble, the Academy of St Martin in the Fields was founded by Sir Neville Marriner in 1958 and is currently led by Music Director Joshua Bell. The wind ensemble’s Ovations program includes a newly commissioned work especially for the ensemble.
