Aileen Hume decided to organise the special event to raise vital funds after a close family member was diagnosed with breast cancer.
“Eaglesham Bowling Club was kind enough to offer its venue and the ladies involved in the club all helped on the day which started at 11am and finished with the last strawberry tart being eaten at 4pm. “Everyone we know came along and supported the event and local businesses were so kind in donating the goodies, especially Greggs and Newlands Bakery.” The Eglinton Arms Hotel, Eaglesham, having been recently refurbished, donated framed prints and drawings and these were a tremendous boost to Aileen to help raise funds. Aileen added: “I’d like to thank all my family and friends for supporting the Pink Ribbon Strawberry Tea by coming along and all the companies who donated so generously. “ We all know someone who has been affected by cancer and I just wanted to do something to help.”
