The Aspinall Foundation has confirmed that it is hosting a music festival at Port Lympne Wild Animal Park this
summer.
The Undertones and The Wedding Present are the first acts confirmed for Red List Live.
The animal charity, which raises money for endangered species, said that the event would have nothing to do with the promoters of last year’s , which took place at the same venue.
“We want to make it totally clear we’re nothing to do with Zoo8,” Red List Live festival director Eddie Hill told the BBC. “The only similarity is the piece of land the event’s going to be held on. That’s our land.”
Speaking about last year’s event, he added: “The Aspinall Foundation didn’t lose money, but it didn’t make as much as it should have done from hosting the event.”
Hill promised that Red List Live would be a “fantastic event properly funded, properly staffed properly managed”.
Organisers hope to raise £100,000 from the festival, which will feature music, comedy and theatre.
