LAST YEAR, Marcia McPherson, director of south London-based Beechcroft Chapel Choir, travelled to Liberia to witness the work of a Christian charity that runs
the African Mercy, a floating hospital which provides free medical care. McPherson was so inspired by the work of Mercy Ships’ more than 400 African Mercy volunteers, she decided to put on an event to raise funds for their cause. Joined by her fellow choir members, Marcia is busy organising a charity ball, scheduled to take place on September 5 at south London’s Battersea Arts Centre.
It will feature a four-course meal, live music, a fashion show, an auction and dancing. Bishop Wayne Malcolm and Diahanne Rhiney are the hosts.
