Celebration of Rescue

Let’s celebrate the best breed of all time – rescue!

Do you know Snoopy? How about Garfield? Sylvester? How about Scooby? They are just some of the well-beloved cartoon characters that we grew up with. These dogs and cats made us smile and laugh with their antics and hilarious personalities. They brought us on wonderful journeys and in their own ways, inspired us to live life according to our own terms. Now think of the real Sylvesters and Scoobys left in animal shelters and locked up in small cages. Real Garfields and Snoopys being neglected and abused. If they’re lucky, they get adopted by a loving family after a few days. If not, then the shelter puts them down, regardless if they’re healthy.

In animal shelters, 56% of dogs and 71% of cats admitted are euthanized if they don’t get adopted after a few weeks. This is what the North Shore Animal League America is trying to change. A pioneer in the no-kill movement, their vision is “A future in which all companion animals find responsible, loving homes where they are free from abuse, hunger, fear, and loneliness and receive the care and respect they deserve.” On November 17, they’ll be holding Celebration of Rescue at the picturesque TRIBECA 360°. There will be a silent auction, a three-course dinner (*meat-free), an open bar, live music, and best of all, there will be puppies to hug! Proceeds from this event will go to the organization’s rescue, nurture, adoption, and education programs.
