Joe Flynn 18th August 2009 ORGANISERS have hailed last weekend’s Vietnam Veterans’ Social Golf Club Charity Golf Day a “roaring successâ€.
Organiser Bruce Rogers said more than 65 people gathered at the Oakwood Park Golf Club, raising more than $1000 for charity. “It was just a great day for everyone involved,†Rogers, who claimed the approach shot prize on the ninth hole, said. Perfect conditions met golfers as they gathered for the annual event. Each year the event is played on the weekend before the anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan. Before the charity day, golfers from the Vietnam Veterans association play against veterans from Rockhampton at Oakwood.
“They were here for the first part of the week,†Vietnam Veterans’ Social Golf Club captain Fred Fagg said.
